Waiting to Hear From God: What to do When You’ve Heard Nothing New
Maybe you find yourself where I have been so many times… Feeling stuck in the day-to-day blahs. Wondering what God wants you to do. You feel there has to be more than laundry, dinners, and diapers. (Thankfully I no longer have that last one to contend with!)
So what do you do when you haven’t had any new direction from God in a long time?
I love what Joyce Meyer says. Basically, if you haven’t heard anything new from God in a while, just keep doing the last thing He told you to do! So simple, yet so profound.
Tend Your Sheep
I have written before about the day when, as a new-ish mom, the Lord told me to tend my sheep. I was so antsy. Full of a calling and bursting at the seams to get moving in the direction of its fulfillment. In my quiet time the Lord spoke to my heart that I was to trust Him and focus my efforts on tending my sheep (my babies). He assured me that He wouldn’t let me miss His plans. Just like He did with Moses and David, when He was ready for me to take the next step He would come get me.
He knows you are seeking Him. When He has a direction or assignment for you, you will not be able to mistake His voice; provided you are being consistent in your time with Him. Spend time in His Word. Talk with Him. Learn to be still in your spirit and soul, so that when He speaks you will hear it. (Read John 15)
