Not seeing God work in your life? There may be a very good reason.

|

You cannot expect God to show up and work in your life if you’ve never invited Him to come into your life and be an active part of it. Have you ever actually given your life to Him to do anything with?

I go on and on week after week, day after day about the working of God in our lives – the power of God to change our lives and affect every move we make and every breath we take. But in my heart I cannot help but wonder how many are reading post after post and thinking, “Well this isn’t for me,” or, “Yeah, that’s good for you, but where is He in my life?” The fact is, my friend you will never have this type of relationship and experience with the Lord until you have laid your life at His feet. God is loving and kind, and He will not force His way into your business.

If you are not daily in the Scripture you cannot expect to see the Scripture play out in your life because you won’t see it even if it happens. You cannot recognize what you do not know. You cannot know what you do not learn. You cannot learn what you do not study; and you cannot study what you do not read.

Get in the Word. Whatever your problem, get in the Word. Your marriage a mess? Get in the Word. Your kids gone crazy? Get in the Word. Your fears and anxieties pulling you down? Get in the Word.

He has given us all we need for life and godliness. (2 Peter 1:3)

You may say, “But the Scripture doesn’t make sense to me.” Hey, algebra never made sense to me, but I still managed to study and pass the test.

You should never expect to get through this life with peace and joy and wholeness apart from Him. Oh sure, you may find other things to temporarily fill the void, but your true, deep down, God-shaped void can never be truly filled with anything other than Him and His love.

Christianity is not a religion; it is an ongoing, constantly growing relationship. Christ died to give us a life of joy and fulfillment. Not an easy life, but a life of purpose and power. (John 10:10)

Maybe you know there is something missing. Maybe you’ve even been in church all your life, but you’ve never made it personal. If you have never gotten it from your head to your heart, if you keep doing all your good works but have never experienced the work of the almighty God on the inside of you – this can be the day!

Just like Joshua told the Israelites, “Choose you this day whom you will serve.” I encourage you right now, make your choice!

It is as simple as Romans 10:9 says, “if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

My very favorite example of salvation pure and simple is the thief on the cross next to Jesus. He did no good works. He was unable to be baptized. All he did was turn to Jesus and say, “Lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” And Jesus himself said, “Today, you will be with me in paradise.”

If you have never truly made Christ Lord of your life, but would like to do that now, pray this prayer with me, preferably out loud.

“Lord, I know that I am a sinner. Please forgive me for my sins and wash me clean. I trust in Jesus, Your Son. I believe that He died for me — He took my sin upon Himself when He died on the cross. I believe that He was raised from the dead.
I surrender my life to Jesus today.
“Thank You, Lord, for Your gift of forgiveness and eternal life. Please help me to live for you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

If you prayed that please comment below, so I can rejoice with you and pray for you as you begin this awesome new adventure!!! As a follower of Christ, the next step is to tell someone and get baptized…NOT for salvation (that’s already done) but as a declaration to the world that you are a follower of Jesus Christ.

Becoming a Christian is easy – living an on fire, sold-out, powerful life that God can use to change the world takes work!

Choose you this day! Step out of your mediocrity and into a bold adventure with God.
