Not long ago Tim and I were talking about the dynamics of our home life. Especially as a single income home, for the most part the provisional/financial stability of our home depends on him, but the emotional stability of our home in large part depends on me. As wives and mothers, we dictate the emotional environment for our homes. We’ve all heard the phrase, “If mama’s not happy nobody’s happy.” And I believe there is a lot of truth to that.

I love New Year’s! In my mind I see it as a chance to step back, reevaluate how things are going – what’s working and what needs work – a chance to push the “reset” button on my life if need be.

There is a trap I often find myself falling into. It is the “just getting through each day” syndrome. I’m sure many of you have been there. You feel as if you are merely fighting to keep your head above water from day-to-day. While I love to talk about the joy and the magic of this season, I am not blind to the fact that for many this Christmas maybe anything but merry. I want to take a moment to pause and let you know that you are in my thoughts and my prayers. Those who have lost loved ones, faced unspeakable trials, and suffered great pain in 2017 are very near to my heart right now.
